Many dog owners don’t realize how many everyday foods can be dangerous for their pets. Dogs are curious by nature, and it’s easy for them to sneak a bite of something that isn’t safe. Knowing which foods to avoid is one of the simplest ways to protect their health.
Chocolate is the classic example, but grapes, raisins, and onions are just as serious—causing everything from kidney failure to anemia. These ingredients show up in countless snacks and leftovers, which makes awareness especially important.
Bacon is another surprising one. Even though dogs love it, its high fat and salt content can overwhelm their digestive system and trigger painful pancreatitis. It’s one of those treats that’s best skipped entirely.
Choosing safe snacks doesn’t have to be complicated. Stick to dog‑friendly options like carrots, blueberries, or plain cooked chicken, and you’ll keep your pup happy, healthy, and out of harm’s way. Here at Bayberry Chihuahuas, we do our best to keep our babies safe, and we love to share our information with you to help keep yours safe too! ♥
